Our Story

Bungaluxe was founded by John Visser, his wife Tania Visser, and their three children — Daniel, Benjamin, and Elise. The Visser family immigrated to Canada in search of a bright future and were welcomed by a wonderful community. That sense of belonging inspired them to create an online store that could bring people together no matter the distance. John spent years as a stay-at-home dad and business consultant, experiences that taught him how meaningful personal connections are in both life and business. He dreamed of building a company that treats customers like family, even from afar. With Tania’s background as a caring family doctor fueling our commitment to empathy and trust, the whole family united to turn Bungaluxe from an idea into reality. From kitchen-table brainstorming sessions to late-night website tinkering, every family member had a hand in launching this labor of love. We know we’re new and have much to learn, but we’re committed to growing our Bungaluxe community and warmly welcome your feedback, stories, and ideas as part of our journey.

John Visser – Co-founder & Dad

John is the driving force behind Bungaluxe and the glue of our little community. After years devoted to raising his kids and advising other businesses, he now pours his heart into creating a shopping experience that feels personal and trustworthy. John handles everything from choosing products to chatting with customers, always with a friendly smile (even if you can’t see it through the screen!). He loves getting to know our customers by name and hearing your stories, making everyone feel like a welcome part of the Bungaluxe family.

Tania Visser – Co-founder & Mom (Family Doctor)

Tania is a co-founder and also a busy family doctor who believes caring isn’t limited to the clinic. Her compassion and patience shape the way we interact with every customer. Tania ensures we treat everyone with kindness and respect, just as she would treat a patient or a friend. In the evenings, after caring for people’s health, she contributes her caring touch to Bungaluxe — answering customer questions, giving honest advice, and reminding us always to put people first. With Tania on our team, you’ll always feel heard and valued.

Benjamin Visser – The Creative Son

Benjamin is the middle child with a big imagination. He helps curate products and adds a dash of creativity to everything we do, whether it’s suggesting a new item to carry or helping style photos for our site. Ben’s excitement shines through in the fun ideas he brings to the table. He loves to hear what customers think — nothing makes him happier than knowing something he helped pick out is making someone’s day. His friendly, creative spirit helps keep the community feeling lively and fun.
